About this website

Niwa Therapy Centre (“Niwa,” “we,” “us”) is a management and facilitation company. Niwa does not itself provide psychotherapy. Psychotherapy services are provided by independently regulated clinicians, who remain responsible for their professional judgment, clinical services, documentation, informed consent, and compliance with their regulatory obligations. Each clinician is registered with and regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Niwa is not a regulated health profession corporation.

This website is not therapy, and not medical advice

Information on this site is general and educational. It is not a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or a substitute for care from a qualified health professional. Reading this website, submitting a form, or exchanging emails with us does not create a therapist–client relationship. That relationship begins only when you and a clinician have agreed to it and you have completed intake and consent.

This is not an emergency service

We do not monitor messages outside business hours and we cannot respond to emergencies. If you are in crisis or at risk of harming yourself or someone else, call 911, go to your nearest emergency department, or call or text 9-8-8 (Suicide Crisis Helpline).

Eligibility

Services are available to people who are physically located in Ontario at the time of their session. Our clinicians are licensed to practise in Ontario, and we cannot provide therapy to people outside the province.

Our services are primarily for adults 18 and over. We consider enquiries about young people under 18 case by case: whether we can help depends on a clinician’s training and availability. In Ontario, consent to treatment depends on a young person’s capacity to understand it rather than on a fixed age, so before therapy begins the clinician will discuss consent, confidentiality, and any role for a parent or guardian.

Booking and payment

Appointments are booked through our scheduling platform. Fees, cancellation terms, and payment methods are set out at the time of booking and in your client agreement. Missed appointments and late cancellations may be charged as described in that agreement.

Communicating with us

Email, text, and fax are not secure. Please do not send personal health information through them. Use our secure client portal or tell us at your appointment. If you choose to send health information by an unsecured method, you accept the risk that it could be intercepted.

Privacy and cookies

How we collect, use, and protect personal information — including the cookie-free website statistics this site uses — is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Your responsibilities

Do not use this site for any unlawful purpose, attempt to gain unauthorized access, or interfere with its operation. Do not submit false information or impersonate another person.

Content and copyright

All content on this site — text, design, logos, and graphics — is owned by Niwa Therapy Centre or used under licence, and is protected under the Copyright Act (R.S.C., 1985, c. C-42). You may view and print pages for personal use. You may not reproduce, republish, or use our content commercially without written permission.

Images

Any photographs of people appearing on this site, other than our named clinicians, are stock images. They are not clients, are not depictions of clients, and do not represent any outcome of therapy. Every person’s experience of therapy is different.

Links to other websites

We link to external resources for convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices.

Limitation of liability

We provide this website in good faith and work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not guarantee it will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by law, Niwa Therapy Centre is not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing here limits any clinician’s professional obligations to their clients under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, the Psychotherapy Act, 2007, or CRPO standards.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Ontario courts.
